The new 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline makes it easier than ever for individuals experiencing mental health-related distress and need help. The easy-to-remember number provides a direct connection to crisis counselors ready to provide help with all kinds of emotional distress including suicide, mental health, or substance use crisis. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline launched on July 16, 2022, and operates through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network of over 200 locally operated and funded crisis centers across the country.
