Recovery Stories & the Five Stages
Remember those five stages in the recovery process? If not, go back and check out Module 2, which covers that topic. The five stages: Impact of Illness, Life is Limited, Change is Possible, Commitment to Change and Actions for Change, address the way a person moves beyond the disabling power of mental illness. In other words, they're five ways that people with a mental illness relate to the disabling power of that illness at various times in their lives. Next, we'll consider the different ways a peer specialist's recovery story might help someone during each of these five stages.
