What are Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)?
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the places where people live, learn, work and play that affect a wide range of health risks and outcomes (CDC). We know that healthy behaviors generally lead to healthier outcomes, but health is also in part determined by social and economic opportunities.
The 5 key areas of SDOH developed by Healthy People 2020 include:
- Economic Stability
- Education
- Social and Community Context
- Health and Health Care
- Neighborhood and Built Environment
Health isn’t always simple. We are committed to providing education, resources, and programs that help address SDOH.
