What You Need to Know about Serving BSC Members
Human Affairs International of California (HAI-CA), a Magellan Health Services company, began serving Blue Shield of California (BSC) members in January. For a smooth transition and to assist our providers who qualified to treat this new membership, we offer access to a wealth of helpful information and tools as listed below.
BSC Provider Orientation: A comprehensive training outlining everything you need to know about serving BSC members, this online presentation in available on the BSC page in PowerPoint or recorded Webinar format.
Provider Handbook Supplement: If you serve BSC members, please become familiar with the standards outlined in our new Blue Shield of California supplement, available on this website under the State-, Plan- and EAP-Specific page.
Medical Necessity Criteria: In addition to the Magellan Behavioral Health Medical Necessity Criteria, we have adopted BSC-specific criteria for neuropsychological testing.
BSC Quick Reference Guide: For your convenience, we developed and recently updated a Quick Reference Guide for providers serving BSC members. If you obtained this document prior to Jan. 2012, please discard it and use the updated version found on this website (from the Get Information box in the center of the page, click State- and Plan-Specific Information; then under Plan-Specific, click Blue Shield of California).

We strongly encourage you to submit claims electronically, via this website or through a clearinghouse. Claims submission through our website is free and is the quickest way to ensure prompt and accurate processing of your claims.
