Be Ready for HIPAA 5010 by April 1

Complete testing as soon as possible to ensure claims are accepted!

In an effort to avoid unnecessary delays in claims payment, Magellan decided to continue to accept claims submitted in ANSI 837-Version 4010 format after the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) 5010 implementation date of Jan. 1, 2012, through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) enforcement delay period ending March 31, 2012. But, if you are a provider using Magellan's Direct Submit application, and you have not yet completed HIPAA 5010 testing, you should do so as early as possible to ensure that claims submitted after March 31 are accepted.

If you use Magellan's Direct Submit application, once your EDI file has converted to 5010, access Magellan's EDI testing center to ensure all changes are successful. If you have questions, contact us at EDISupport@MagellanHealth.com or 1-800-450-7281, ext. 75890.

Please note: This notice impacts claims submitted through direct submission, and does not apply to providers submitting individual claims via the Claims Courier Application.
