Industry Accreditations
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
NCQA is a national organization that accredits both Managed Behavioral Health Organizations (MBHOs) and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Magellan is one of the leaders in the industry in NCQA accreditation and is uniquely positioned to work with MCO customers to take full advantage of new NCQA standards and guidelines.
- In 2010, Magellan again earned certification as a Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) by the NCQA. Magellan was the first managed behavioral health care organization in the nation to earn certification as a CVO; we have held certification since 1999.
- In 2006, Magellan Health Services completed our corporate NCQA managed behavioral health organization survey. NCQA reviewed 60 elements related to centralized corporate functions.
- NIA is NCQA Utilization Management certified until March 26, 2012.
- Magellan was instrumental in helping NCQA shape its MBHO accreditation program by providing NCQA with extensive feedback on draft standards and hosting pilot corporate and site reviews.

URAC
URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, is well-known as a leader in promoting health care quality through its accreditation and certification programs. In 2010, URAC awarded Magellan full re-accreditation under the Health Utilization Management, version 6.0 standards, and the Case Management Standards, version 4.0, for our behavioral health utilization management and case management programs, respectively.
- In 2010, ten of Magellan's Care Management Centers (CMCs) earned full URAC re-accreditation through 2013.
- Magellan of Arizona was also awarded Health Utilization Management Accreditation through 2013.
- Magellan was the first MBHO to be accredited under URAC's Case Management standards. Currently, six of Magellan's CMCs have been awarded Case Management Accreditation through 2013.
- Magellan has had sites accredited by URAC since 1992.
- NIA has full UM Accreditation until December 1, 2013.
- Magellan Medicaid Administration has full UM Accreditation until July 1, 2012.
