Supporting Consumer Rights and Professionalism
The Association for Behavioral
Health and Wellness's (ABHW) mission is to be the national voice
for behavioral health and wellness companies committed to improving
health care access and outcomes and promoting health and wellness
by effectively treating mental health, substance use and other
behaviors that impact health.
As an ABHW member company, Magellan Health Services is committed to supporting fully the concepts and practices outlined by the ABHW.
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA)
Magellan has joined with DBSA, a national
consumer directed organization focused on the most prevalent mental
illnesses, to develop interactive, online e-learning courses for
Medicaid-reimbursable peer specialists and their supervisors.
National Alliance on Mental Illness
A long-time
supporter of NAMI, Magellan is proud to continue our commitment as
the national sponsor of NAMI's Provider Education Program.
Recognized as a best practice for workforce development and
training, Magellan has been a national sponsor of the NAMI Provider
Education Program since its inception in 2006. Through Magellan's
sponsorship, providers in selected states are able to attend the
training sessions free of charge.
Additionally, Magellan employees across the country band together to support the NAMIWALK for the Mind of America, which raises awareness about the need for world-class treatment and recovery systems for people with mental illness, by participating as walkers and raising funds.
National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health (National Federation)
The National Federation is a family-run
organization dedicated to helping children with mental health needs
and their families achieve a better quality of life. Magellan is
proud to be the national sponsor of the organization's National
Children's Mental Health Awareness Week.
Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx)
NIATx works with addiction
treatment providers to share strategies for improving treatment
access and retention. Magellan serves as a national sponsor for
NIATx's ACTION (Adopting Changes to Improve Outcomes Now) Campaign,
which seeks to increase access and keep individuals engaged in
substance abuse treatment.
United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation
USPRA is dedicated to the practice
of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery. We are continuing our
sponsorship established in 2007 for USPRA's widely attended
training series on recovery. In 2008, USPRA's training series,
Furthering the Recovery Paradigm: People in Recovery Leading
the Way, explores the ways people in recovery are shaping
mental health programs.
